What Is Epoxy Resin Flooring?

Epoxy resin flooring is a liquid resin system, bonded to a prepared concrete or screed base, that cures into one continuous, seamless and very hard-wearing floor.

Different systems give very different looks. Metallic epoxy creates flowing, marble-like movement. Flake floors scatter coloured chips through clear resin for grip and character. Quartz and solid colour systems give a clean, practical finish for busy homes and businesses.

Because there are no joints, resin is easy to keep clean and hygienic, which is why it is chosen for everything from family kitchens to clinics and showrooms.

  • SeamlessOne continuous surface with no grout or joints to trap dirt
  • Hard-wearingBuilt for footfall, spills, furniture and, in garages, tyres
  • Your lookMetallic, flake, quartz or solid colour, gloss or satin

How Much Does Resin Flooring Cost?

Resin floors are priced per square metre, and the system you choose and the state of the floor underneath make the biggest difference.

01

The resin system

Solid colour, flake, quartz and metallic systems each use different materials and layers.

02

Preparation needed

Grinding, crack repairs, levelling and lifting old tiles can be a large part of the job.

03

Moisture in the base

Damp slabs need a moisture-suppressing primer so the resin bonds and lasts.

04

Floor area

Bigger floors usually cost less per square metre.

05

Finish and grip

Gloss or satin topcoats and anti-slip aggregates are specified to suit the space.

Ask a question

What is epoxy resin flooring?

Epoxy resin flooring is a liquid resin system bonded to a prepared concrete or screed base that cures into a seamless, hard-wearing floor. It comes in metallic, flake, quartz and solid colour finishes.

Can you have resin flooring in a house?

Yes. Resin is increasingly popular in kitchens, open-plan living spaces, hallways, utility rooms and garages, where a seamless, easy-to-clean and striking floor makes a real difference.

How much does resin flooring cost per m²?

It depends on the resin system, the preparation needed, any moisture in the base and the size of the floor. Send us photos on WhatsApp for an initial estimate, and we confirm a fixed written price after a free survey.

Is resin flooring slippery?

Gloss resin can be slippery when wet, so we specify satin finishes or add anti-slip aggregate in kitchens, bathrooms, garages and commercial areas where grip matters.

Can resin go over tiles?

For the strongest bond and a long-lasting floor, we usually lift existing tiles and grind the base before applying resin. We assess every floor at survey and explain the options.

How long does a resin floor take?

Preparation, base coats and topcoats usually take a few days depending on the system and size. Most floors take light foot traffic within a day or two of the final coat, with full cure over the following days. We confirm timings in your quote.

What is the difference between metallic and flake flooring?

Metallic epoxy uses metallic pigments in clear resin to create flowing, marble-like movement and a glossy statement finish. Flake flooring broadcasts coloured chips into the resin for texture, grip and a forgiving, speckled look that hides dust and wear.

Is resin good for garage floors?

Yes. A properly prepared resin system resists oil, spills and dust, is easy to clean and turns a garage into a showroom-style space. Flake systems are especially popular for garages.

How durable is resin flooring?

A well-prepared, professionally laid resin floor is extremely hard-wearing. Avoid dragging heavy furniture, use felt pads, and the topcoat can be refreshed in future if it ever needs it.
